Dryfruit Nut Laddu ~ Dryfruit Nut Balls
I want to windup 2012 with this healthy treat and another reason to celebrate is, today my sister is blessed with a baby boy, so I am dedicating this healthy recovering snack to my lovely sister whom I miss being with during this beautiful phase of her life.
I wanted to make this recipe since long time but now is a perfect time to post. I love making this recipe, since it doesn’t have any external saturated fat like butter or ghee. Other than natural sugar from dates and figs, there is no added refined sugar. This guilt free, healthy fat and natural sweet dessert can be enjoyed by one and all in any occasion.
Makes: 16 lemon size balls
Ingredients:
- Medjool Dates – 15
- Figs – 15
- Walnuts – ¾ Cup
- Almond – ¾ Cup
- Pistachios – 20
- Cashews – 20
Method:
- Dry roast all nuts and chop them separately( I chopped them in my Indian mixer/ food processor, I got half amount of powder and half chunks of nuts, Every nut needs different roasting time and blending time. So make sure roast or chop them separately)
- Pit and chop dates.
- Chop figs into fine pieces
- Microwave chopped dates and figs for 1 minute to soften or roast them until soften on stove .
- Blend dates and figs in food processor to get a coarse texture ( I added nut powder while blending, so that dates and figs mixture won’t stick to mixer blades).
- Mix dates – figs paste, chunky nuts and nuts powder and combine well.
- Make small lemon size balls.
- Serve or store in air tight container.
Note:
- You can increase dates or figs according to your taste.
- In this recipe you will get more figs taste than dates taste.
- You can add 1 to 2 table spoons of sugar while blending dry fruits to get more sweeter version.
- You can add 2 table spoons of flax seeds.
- Make sure to use soft dates.
